England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Availability
The bowler's last Test for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Southee is still working through what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the first Test due to his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, aged 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Commenting as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, Southee said of his participation: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the next little while."
English pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to England travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
