England Scout for FIFA 2026 Training Facilities Amidst Worries of Missing Out On First-Choice Location to the Dutch.

The Football Association has sent operational staff to the America this week to inspect potential bases for the forthcoming global finals, amid growing apprehensions that their preferred site could be allocated by the Holland.

Tournament Draw Complications Disrupt Arrangements

Head coach Thomas Tuchel had previously approved an FA plan for England to be based in Kansas following a warm-up training camp in Fort Lauderdale. Yet, after the recent tournament draw, there are now fears that the Netherlands, who have their group stage matches in Kansas, will be given first refusal on the chosen facility at Sporting Kansas City—a high-performance centre used by US Soccer.

The world governing body assigns training bases based on geography and FIFA rankings if there is a dispute, with the draw possibly pitting the FA against the Netherlands and Argentina for sites in the tournament's central region.

Exploring Alternative Sites

With England's group stage matches scheduled to take place in Dallas, Boston, and New Jersey, the FA is now understood to be looking at other locations on the US East Coast. The FA began its search for training camps at the start of the year, with Tuchel and technical director John McDermott visiting possible sites during the Club World Cup last summer.

Despite this early preparation, there was always an acceptance that the final tournament draw could drastically change their logistical arrangements.

Later Round Logistics Strategy

The Three Lions face the eighth most demanding group stage schedule in terms of mileage. Topping Group L would put England on track for a round of 32 game in Atlanta, followed by potential round of 16 match in Mexico City.

  • Major Change: The FA may opt to choose to move between venues for the knockout stages should England qualify, a significant shift from its usual protocol of having a single tournament base.
  • Tournament Organizers Encouragement: FIFA is understood to be actively encouraging such a itinerant approach for the vast 2026 tournament.

Once the training base is finalized, the FA will turn its attention to organizing two friendly matches in Florida at the start of June.
