Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of
We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons car the community is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.
What Fans Really Want
Although most gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch built personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the enormous truck showcased in season 10. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an recognizable element of the show. And for players who analyze the game's vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car
And it's not the only customization item from the series arriving in the game. This limited-time event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will task players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the perfect donuts!"
Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:
- Blinky topper
- Homer's hedge-themed banner
- Waste wheels
- 20,000 XP per challenge
If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive wheels with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.
Event Timing and Fortnite Connection
The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new map of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on November 17th.
